Greater Sudbury Police are looking to speak with a man, approximately 50 years old, driving a light coloured SUV.
They say that shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, a man was seen walking in and out of traffic and acting in an erratic manner on the Kingsway just beyond Third Avenue.
The man was wearing dark clothing and was in a location that did not have an immediate crosswalk and limited artificial lighting. For reasons unknown, he stepped out from the centre turning lane and directly in front of a white SUV that was traveling towards Coniston. The SUV struck the man who was subsequently struck by two additional motor vehicles in the eastbound lanes.
All of vehicles stopped at the scene of the collision, however one of drivers left the scene before Police obtained his information.
Police say there are no charges are pending in relation to the collision.
The Greater Sudbury Police Service is asking that this driver contact the Traffic Management Unit in order to provide a statement, as well as, his personal and vehicle information. This is the individual mentioned prior; approximately 50-years old, driving a light coloured SUV
The victims name will not be released at the request of the family. Our condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
Greater Sudbury Police were called to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Kingsway in the area of Third Ave just before 8:00am on January 9th, 2019.
The roadway was closed for approximately five and a half hours.
A male pedestrian succumbed to there injuries at the scene.
