Suspects arrested in New Sudbury Confectionary robbery

Members of the Greater Sudbury Polices Service's Break Enter and Robbery (B.E.A.R.) Unit arrested all three parties responsible for the robbery of a confectionary store on Madision Avenue in New Sudbury.
Police executed a search warrant on the 12th of April and have recovered items related this incident and a taser used in committing the robbery.

Originial: Greater Sudbury Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter.Police are recommending "employees and owners of confectionaries and convenience stores to take extra safety precautions" following what they describe as a robbery that was "planned and carried out with an alarming level of aggression and violence."

Just before 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, Officers responded to a Robbery that had just occurred at a convenience store on Madison Avenue in New Sudbury.

Three men concealed their faces and entered the store. One of the men assaulted the employee with a conducted energy weapon while a second man stole money from the cash register. The third man stood guard at the main door of the store.

The three men left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, cigarettes and other items prior to Police arrival.   The employee sustained minor injuries as a result of the altercation.

A K9 track was conducted in the area of Madison Avenue and Caribou Road, however, it ended abruptly indicating that the three men fled the scene in a vehicle. Officers canvassed the area and spoke with numerous individuals in an attempt to gather additional evidence.

All three men are described as being around 6’0” tall with medium builds.

Anyone with video surveillance footage of the area or who has information regarding the incident is asked to contact Police at 705-675-9171 or Crime Stoppers at 705-222-8477.

This incident was planned and carried out with an alarming level of aggression and violence; therefore, we ask that employees and owners of confectionaries and convenience stores to take extra safety precautions until the persons responsible are taken into custody.
